ELLINWOOD – A Ellinwood woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving the utility task vehicle she was driving east of Ellinwood Friday afternoon, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

According to the KHP, 21-year-old Ashly Reichuber was driving the 2009 Bush Hog UTV westbound in the north ditch along U.S. 56 six miles east of Ellinwood at about 1:20 p.m. Friday. She attempted to make a left turn onto First Road when the UTV was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound 2015 Nissan driven by Fernando Vega, 52, of Kansas City.

Ashley Reichuber was taken to Ellinwood District Hospital but died as a result of her injuries. Her sister, 19-year-old Abbie Reichuber, also of Ellinwood, was the sole passenger and was injured and also taken to Ellinwood District Hospital.

Neither Vega nor his passenger, Emanuel Sota, 24, of Kansas City, were injured.
