First ever PAWesome Easter egg hunt scheduled for March 27
PAWesome

Easter egg hunting has gone to the dogs, at least on March 27 as the Great Bend Recreation Commission will host the inaugural PAWesome Easter Egg Hunt. The event will take place near the dog park at Veterans Memorial Park. Registration is $5 per pooch and opens at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is available online at www.greatbendrec.com. The small dog hunt will begin at 1:15 p.m. while larger dogs will hunt at 2 p.m.

Some eggs contain pet-friendly treats, while other eggs contain vouchers for larger prizes. A photo booth will be available for dogs and their owners. All dogs must be on a leash. Proceeds from the event will benefit the dog park.

“This is a first-of-its-kind event for our four-legged canine family members,” said Megan Hammeke, event organizer. “We hope this will grow into an annual event and we’re also looking for a good turnout this Saturday.”

Hammeke added that in case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. For more information, contact the Rec by calling 620-793-3755 or visit www.greatbendrec.com. Also, “like” the Rec’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheRecGB.
