The Kansas Historical Society announced it has published a new children’s activity book, “Kid’s Kansas”. This full-color, 44-page book features stickers, pull-out famous Kansan trading cards and flags, and several pages of puzzles, activities, and Kansas stories. The book will make its debut at the Kansas Book Festival, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Kansas Historical Society, 6425 SW 6th
Avenue, Topeka. For more information call 785-272-8681 or visit http://store.kshs.org.
“Kid’s Kansas” will be sold in the Kansas Historical Society’s children’s tent at the festival. Although this book retails for $8.95, it will be offered Saturday at a festival-only price of $6. In the children’s tent, young visitors can also play games, participate in activities, and make craft projects. Children can use soybeans to vote for their favorite famous Kansans, step on a larger-than-life-sized version of the “Rollin’ on the River” game from the activity book, and decorate a visor to take home. All activities in the children’s tent are free.
The Historical Society is offering a free copy of “Kid’s Kansas” to any fourth grade Kansas teacher. Teachers should send an email request with their mailing address to kidskansas@kshs.org. Learn more about “Kid’s Kansas” at kshs.org /17236.
