Billinger selected as HCC Foundation Scholar
ell kl Adaline Billinger
Adaline Billinger, daughter of Steve and Lora Billinger of Ellinwood, has been named a Foundation Scholar by the Highland Community College Foundation Board of Directors. As a Foundation Scholar, Billinger will receive her tuition, fees, books, and on-campus housing while a student at the College. The Foundation Scholar program began with a bequest from the estate of Hilda Triplett, who was a member of the HCC Board of Trustees. Selection as a Foundation Scholar is based on an application process that documents the applicants academic record and involvement in a variety of school and community activities. Final selections are then based on an interview with the selection committee. Up to five Kansas high school graduates are selected as Foundation Scholars each year. HCC Foundation Scholars are asked to continue their record of academic achievement and involvement on campus and in the community. The Foundation Scholars meet monthly to determine community/campus service projects for the month. Billinger, who will graduate from Ellinwood High School this spring, will be a member of the Scottie softball team and serve as a Scottie Ambassador. She plans to work on a degree in English and secondary education.
