5K Walk/Run to be held during Labor Day
HOISINGTON — A 5K Walk/Run will be held beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 2 beginning at the Hoisington Activity Center. The course will include a route through the community.
Awards will be given. The entry fee is $15, which includes a T-shirt, or $5 on race day with no T-shirt.

USD 431 holds special meeting
HOISINGTON —  USD 431 Hoisington Board of Education held a special meeting on June 26.
According to the unofficial minutes, the board will contract with KASB for Worker’s Compensation Insurance for $34,735.
The board agreed to pay one-half of the cost to resurface the tennis courts for $9,200. The City of Hoisington will pay one-half.
The board approved disposing of excess electronic and district property.
The board approved annual end-of-the-year transfers.
The board approved the employment of Christopher Lopez and Honey Hemken-Keener  as full-time district custodians with benefits effective July 1, 2013.  
The board approved the employment of Steve Husted as Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds effective July 1, 2013 with an annual salary of $24,000.  
The board will meet at 7 p.m. on July 8 instead of the first Monday of the month.
