The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will look at future tuition rates and the college swimming pool during the board’s February study session, at 4 p.m. Tuesday in room F-30, the Seminar Room of the Fine Arts Building.
No board action is taken during study sessions, but the information provided is used for decision making at regular board meetings.
The agenda for the study session does not include a recommendation for the pool, but shows Dean of Administration Mark Dean’s analysis of projected revenue for the next five years — $36,964 — vs. projected costs of the same period — $348,900.
The agenda also shows no recommendation for an increase of tuition or fees, but a report by Dean shows how Barton tuition compares to other Kansas community colleges, and how much additional revenue a $1 increase in tuition and/or fees would raise.
Another topic Dean will discuss is a Memorandum of Understanding between the college and Barton County. In the event of a disaster, county and BCC officials will discuss what college sites can serve as a backup for a Continuity of Operations Plan.
Other items on the agenda include the automotive technology program curriculum, financial statement, the schedule for the board’s March retreat, the commencement speaker, information about a national survey (Personal Assessment of the College Environment), Fort Riley developments, and community college system talking points.
