Barton Community College’s 43rd commencement is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the Barton Gymnasium. After a brief welcome from College President Dr. Carl Heilman, the graduating class of 2013, their families and friends will be treated to a message from Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, who is the guest speaker at this year’s commencement ceremony.Brownback began his political career when he became the Kansas secretary of agriculture in 1986.
