Deadline nearing for April election filing
Several school, city and other positions up for grabs

There will be a host of school board, city council and other positions up for election on April 7, Barton County Election Officer Donna Zimmerman said. Registered voters in the involved districts must file for on or before the filing deadline at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
If the number of candidates filing for office necessitates a primary election, the primary will take place March 3, Zimmerman said.
There will be a general election to elect the following:
• Unified School District 428 (Great Bend) - Four positions at-large
• Unified School District 431(Hoisington) - Positions 1, 2, 3, 5 (unexpired), 6 (unexpired) and Position 7 at large
• Unified School District 355 (Ellinwood) - Four positions at-large
• Barton County Community College - Three Board of Trustees positions at-large
• Ellinwood Hospital District - One Board of Trustees position at-large
• City of Great Bend – Mayor and one council member from each of the four wards
• City of Hoisington – Mayor and one council member from each of the four wards
• City of Ellinwood – Mayor and two council member positions
• City of Claflin – Mayor and two council member positions
• City of Albert – Mayor and five council member positions
• City of Galatia – Mayor and five council member positions
• City of Olmitz – Mayor and five council member positions
• City of Pawnee Rock – Mayor and five council member positions
• City of Susank – Mayor and five council member positions
School District and Ellinwood Hospital District candidates can file at the Barton County Clerk’s Office, Room 202, 1400 Main, Great Bend, Kansas.
Great Bend and Hoisington (cities of the second class) can file with their city clerk’s offices. All other cities (cities of the third class) file with either the Barton County Clerk’s Office or their respective city clerk’s offices.
