A rural Ellinwood man was injured Wednesday in a one-vehicle accident at 10:50 p.m. in the 700 block of NE 40 Road.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports Kevin Kramp, 55, was transported to Ellinwood District Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries to the face and possible head trauma. It was determined that alcohol may have played a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation.

According to the report, Kramp was driving east at a high rate of speed in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma when it crossed the center line and traveled to the left shoulder. He then over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle, which eventually went into the south ditch where it struck a power pole, causing the pole to break. The Tacoma overturned and the power lines landed on top of it.
BCSO deputies were dispatched around 11 p.m. Kramp was the only person in the vehicle; he was not wearing a seat belt. The sheriff’s office was assisted by Ellinwood Emergency Medical Service and Fire Department.
