Farm expo coming to town
Three days of events scheduled for April 8-10

Scott Daily demonstrates horse training at the 2014 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo. This years expo is set for next week.

The 2015 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo will be held Wednesday through Friday, April 8, 9, and 10, 2015 in Great Bend. The show is located at the Expo Complex west of town. The show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the 8th, 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. on the 9th and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the 10th with extended hours on Thursday.

There are over 700 booths filled with exhibitors from 27 States, Canada and Australia. The Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo spans over 80 acres, making it one of the largest farm shows in the United States, said Darren Dale, show owner.

Admission and Parking are free to the public.

“The show staff is excited about the new and exciting activities, seminars and demonstrations that are coming to the 2015 Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo,” Dale said. “It will be the premier livestock and outdoor farm equipment show in the High Plains. There is something for everyone, come check it out for yourself.”

Scott Daily Horse Training Demonstration will be held all three days. Daily has been around horses most of his life. His love for horses and desire to train them began in 4-H while he was growing up in Inola, Okla. Scott started training horses about 20 years ago. 

After many years of working with challenging colts and horses, Scott has developed and perfected his own techniques. Scott believes in building trust between horse and rider. Scott will be featured in Expo 3 and is brought to you by Bex Sunglasses. 

Thursday April 9 at 1 p.m. come join us for The KBUF Risk Management and Market Forum Featuring John Jenkinson KBUF Radio and KSN Television and Arlan Suderman, Water Street Solutions senior market analyst. Hear comments from Suderman and Jenkinson as they discuss markets and ask questions about how to better manage risk. This event will be located in the Expo 3 building. 

Bradford Cattledogs will be doing Stock dog demonstrations all three days of the expo. Through their love of teaching/training they have developed a strong desire and obsession of perfecting a working cow dog that can be used more efficiently on the farm. They raise and train border collies at their home in Mountain Home, Arkansas with emphasis on reproducing cattle dogs that are gritty yet trainable. 

The Bradford’s travel nationwide to keep up with the newer facets of training as well as scouting for upcoming bloodlines that may cross well with their own. In the past few years they have won many honors including the following: Eight time National Finals Qualifier, 2011 MSDA Dog of the Year Award, 2012-13 National Cattledog Association High point Dog of the Year, 2012 National Cattledog Association Deep South Regional Champion, 2012 Northwest Regional Champion. 

Genex Cooperative Inc. will demonstrate chute-side service using portable breeding barns at the expo. Chute-side service is a convenient and cost effective tool for large operations to improve their genetics and profitability through artificial insemination. Chute-side service includes synchronization and technician insemination, providing ranchers with access to the industry’s most sought after genetics. 

Expo 3 will host a variety of seminars including Sharp Brothers Seed presenting a seminar on the benefits and technology of hybrid alfalfa and the latest cover crop techniques. Also, American State Bank will be presenting “New Technologies and Farming Techniques” Forums. Theses forums will be held daily in the Expo 3 building. Presenters include Straub International, Great Bend Farm Equipment, Simpson Farm Enterprises and KanEquip Inc.
