From gardens to man caves, the local Soroptimist International Club wants to show them to you. The 13th-annual Gardens Galore garden tour runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12.
This year the tour has added unique and creative garages to event, said club member Ruth Bealer. Tourists will find a variety of ideas and innovations in this year’s spectacular gardens. The added garage tour features a showcase of garages which have been transformed into entertainment and gathering places, along with the Damon car collection.
The tour is the club’s biggest fundraiser next to the soup supper it sponsors in the fall, and it provides a chance for residents to take in the spring sights.
According to Bealer, the Great Bend Soroptomist Club is a volunteer women’s group focused on the betterment of the community. Projects funded by proceeds from the garden tour in the past include establishing signage on the Hike and Bike Trail and contributions to the Great Bend Beautification Committee to put planters on Main Street, as well as beautification of the islands on Broadway.
Tickets are $5 for the garden or garage tour only, or $8 for a combination ticket to see both the gardens and garages. Tickets are available in advance at Satellite Pros (1520 Main) or at any garden or garage location the day of the tour. Rain date for the tour is Sunday, June 26.
