Participants from state, local and private organizations across Kansas took part in a two-day emergency response exercise at Crisis City, Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1. Great Bend Fire Department sent several people.
Crisis City, located near Salina, is an All Hazards Emergency Response Training Center. Its motto is: “Training America’s First Responders in the Heartland.”
The exercise scenario simulated a large-scale gas explosion in a downtown area. First responders conducted response operations at the concrete rubble pile, gas pipeline and other training venues at Crisis City.
