HOISINGTON — Adults and youth both tried their luck and skill at running a truck or ATV through the mud this weekend in Hoisington.
The numbers were up this year with 500-600 participants, said Stacey Bressler, Hoisington chamber of commerce executive director.
“There was a lot of interest and a beautiful day,” she said. The event ran from 1-8:30 p.m.
Bressler wanted to thank the volunteers and especially the high school students that helped out. “The youth stepped up,” she said.
There were two separate pits-one for ATV’s and the other for vehicles. The ATV events are open to all ages.
The proceeds raised from the event benefit the Hoisington Chamber of Commerce and the Christmas Lights Fund. The city of Hoisington sponsored the event in conjunction with the Kansas Mud Racing Organization.
The KMRO holds races from May through Oct. 1. They will hold 18 events this year. Events are held in Kansas, Oklahoma or Colorado.
