Hoisington resident dies in wreck

HOISINGTON — A Hoisington resident, Michael R. Smith, 24, died when the vehicle he was driving rolled over at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
He was driving a gray 2003 Ford Taurus south on NW 10 Avenue when it went out of control due to rough road conditions.
The vehicle went into a side skid and struck a telephone pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.
The vehicle came to rest on the southwest corner. Smith was pinned in the vehicle and required extraction. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Smith was flown from the scene to Wesley Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.
Delora Donovan, 21, was riding in the front passenger seat. She was wearing her seat belt. She was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital and treated and released.
