Local gas prices have slowly reversed from the high point earlier this month and they had reached $3.80 per gallon in Great Bend Monday, which was a drop of six cents.
The price is still more than a dollar a gallon higher than it was this time last year.
Low price for gas in Kansas on Monday was reported in Topeka, where it was available for $3.48.
Other prices around the state included: $3.54, Topeka; $3.55, Topeka; $3.65, El Dorado and Concordia; $3.66, Manhattan and El Dorado; Sedgwick; $3.68, Emporia and El Dorado; 3.69, Emporia, Arkansas City, Newton and Manhattan; $3.70, Hutchinson and Concordia; $3.71, Lawrence and Pittsburg; $3.72, Salina and Hutchinson; $3.73, Manhattan; $3.74, Eureka and Parsons; $3.75, Salina and Iola; $3.77, Salina; $3.78, Lawrence; $3.79, Lawrence, Oakley, Ottawa, Eureka and Manhattan; $3.83, Medicine Lodge; $3.85, Larned; $3.88, Russell; $3.89, Goodland, Russell, Dodge City, Cherryvale, Dighton, Russell, Junction City, Ottawa and McPherson, $3.90, Dodge City; $3.94, Hays; $3.95, Garden City and Larned.
The average price in Kansas Monday was $3.74, which was down from a week ago when the average price in the state was $3.83. It is still up, however, over a month ago when the state average was $3.70, and it is still more than a dollar a gallon higher than a year ago when we were approaching the kick off of the summer driving season with a state average price of $2.65.
The national average price on Monday was $3.83, down from $3.93 a week ago. A year ago, the national average price was $2.80.
The prices are reported on Kansas Gas Prices, which is operated by Gas Buddy Organization, that was developed as a way for the public to report changes in gas prices around the nation.
