Making way
Stan Nelson of the Barton County Road and Bridge Department shoulders snow off the roadway Thursday in an effort to open roads for safe travel. After the snow storm extensive work is required to remove drifting and open roads to a safe width for travel. County crews make every effort, where practical, to move the accumulated snow a safe distance off the roadway. All the county trucks were still running routes Friday, shouldering, treating and cleaning up intersections. If the wind blows a different direction, they have to start all over.
