An Odin woman was injured Friday evening when the sport utility vehicle she was driving slid off the 1100 block of NE 120 Ave. Brooklyn R. Hekele, 17, was treated and released at the scene for an injury to her hand.
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Friday as Hekele was driving north in a 2011 Lincoln Navigator. Due to the road conditions the vehicle began sliding toward the west ditch and the driver over-corrected to the east ditch. The Navigator then slid down the embankment and rolled 3/4 times, landing on its driver’s side. Hekele was trapped in the vehicle, due to it being unstable. She was removed through the hatchback.
She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Assisting agencies were the Claflin Emergency Medical Service and Claflin Police Department.
