ELLINWOOD — Saturday at  3:55 a.m.  Ellinwood Officer Renfro attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  The vehicle refused to stop and a short chase ensued, ending in the driver, Dalton Staudinger, loosing control of the vehicle and hitting a carport and fence in the 200 block of North Wilhelm.  
When the Officer approached the vehicle, Staudinger attempted to back the SUV into the path of the officer. Perceiving this as a threat of bodily harm, the officer shot out the back tire.  Staudinger was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and flee and elude and was booked into the Barton County Jail.
