Snow contributes to weekend accidents

    Weather was a contributing factor in several accidents reported over the weekend.
     An injury accident was reported at 12:52 p.m. Sunday at 10th and Washington St. The Great Bend Police Department reports a vehicle driven by Deeana Bowles was westbound in the 2500 block of 10th St., slid on the snow and struck a vehicle driven by Richard Mason, who was northbound on Washington. A passenger from the Mason vehicle was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital.


     The Barton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch at 5:57 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 56, approaching Dundee, and one at 7:25 p.m. on East Barton County Road between Dartmouth and Ellinwood. Another call of a car in a ditch was transferred to Russell County.

     A Dodge Avenger was in the ditch on West K-4, just past the U.S. 281 Junction, at 9:59 p.m.
     A Ford Mustang slid off West U.S. 56 near SW 90 Ave. at 5:59 a.m. Sunday. The driver reported hitting her head but said she did not need an ambulance.
     A pickup hit a deer at 6:11 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East K-4.
