Suspicious house fire under investigation

Great Bend resident Jazmine Crawford, 1209 Odell St., called in a report that someone had set her bushes on fire at 9:19 p.m. Wednesday. When firefighters and police responded, they found Crawford or another occupant of the house spraying water with a garden hose onto the vegetation surrounding the front porch.  Great Bend Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said they extinguished the fire and there was no structural damage.  
Lt. Bill Browne at the Great Bend Police Department said the fire was suspicious and was investigated as an aggravated arson case. Property loss was estimated at $10 for the damaged plants.

LINDSBORG — Great Bend watercolorist and Barton Community College Coordinator of Workforce Training Events Krystall Barnes is a featured artist through October 21 at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg. Her exhibition of original watercolor paintings is entitled “Emergence.”
