The Great Bend High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the Class of 2010 has been set for Feb. 18. Inductees include former GBHS vocal music director and pianist, Jenny Allford, and 1944 GBHS graduate, Glenn Opie. Opie may be best known for his years of service to the Argonne Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps.
Festivities will begin with a luncheon at the Highland Convention Center Heritage Room beginning at 11:45 a.m. The induction ceremony will take place that evening between the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball games with Dodge City in the Great Bend High School gymnasium. A reception will follow the games in the Jack Kilby Commons. Everyone is encouraged to stay to visit with the inductees.
Tickets for the luncheon are $15 per person, or you may gather a group of eight persons and reserve a table for $200. The $200 sponsorship includes the $15 luncheon tickets, plus a $10 donation per person to help cover costs to support the hall of fame. The luncheon menu includes ham or turkey croissant, baked potato soup, salad and coffee or tea.
Ticket sales will be from Jan. 24 through Feb. 7 in the Activities Office at GBHS. You may also reply online to halloffame@usd428.net or by phone to 620-793-1560. Checks may be made payable to Great Bend High School Hall of Fame. Credit or debit cards cannot be accepted.
