Woman reports being battered by stranger

A Great Bend woman reported being battered at her residence at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday by an unknown male. He was able to reach inside the front door and ripped the T-shirt she was wearing before leaving the residence at 2707 Morton St.

Detective David Bailey from the Great Bend Police Department said the woman told police she heard the door knob rattling but at first thought a pet was responsible for the noise. When she did get up to investigate, she saw a 6-foot-tall man in dark clothing with a hoodie that was pulled up. That was the only description she was able to provide. "She could tell it was a male, but she could not see the face or other features," Bailey said.

The woman called her boyfriend on the telephone and looked for a weapon. Somehow the door opened and the suspect reportedly reached in and grabbed her shirt, which was torn half way up the front. The suspect ran off as she threw the phone and yelled her boyfriend’s name.

There were no signs of forced injury and no signs of physical injury to the victim.
