Woman reports being cut, held against her will

Great Bend police are searching for a man who allegedly attacked a 22-year-old woman Sunday night at her residence. The woman knew and identified the suspect, whose name has not been released.

According to a statement issued Monday by the Great Bend Police Department, the victim returned to her residence at 1431 10th St. around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, after visiting friends. The suspect was reportedly hiding inside. The woman told police that he cut her several times with a knife and struck her repeatedly with his fists for what police called "a prolonged period of time." She also reported being held inside the residence against her will.

The woman eventually escaped and went to a neighbor’s house while the suspect fled on foot. The neighbor called 911 and the woman was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital by Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance. She was treated and released.

Officers were dispatched to the 10th St. residence around 11:15 p.m.

Law enforcement officers said they had not located the suspect as of Monday morning. The case remains under investigation for the possible crimes of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and aggravated battery.
