Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — Members of the Larned guild met Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the First Presbyterian Church of Larned.
Thank you notes were read from Faith Thompson for gifts extended in her behalf for the summer music camp at Fort Hays University and from Diann Morell.
Announcements included a work day at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 with potluck to follow at noon, the Quilting Diva Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church (use northwest door), and the annual Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Members are to bring finger-foods and a gift to exchange if so desired. Rita Schaller presented the history of the “Anvil” block and displayed a quilt her mother had made for her children.
Members exchanged the final “Row by Row” to the last name on the list. This will complete the project and members were encouraged to complete the quilt. Ann Hicks has agreed to be president of the guild beginning in January 2018.
Show and Tell presentations were delivered by Colleen Wolf, kitchen towels made using vintage doilies Jeana Padgham, quilt made for daughter; Becky Obermiller, baby burb pads for a friend’s newborn; Karen Hadley, first quilt made in sampler design and hand pieced. Members displayed individual “Row by Row” projects.
The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
