The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a minor injury accident at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 281 at West Lakeview Dr. in Barton Hills.
James Norvell, 26, of Great Bend, was driving south in a 2006 Chevrolet 3500 pickup and slowed to make a left-hand turn onto Lakeview.  Vincent Sample, 16, Great Bend, was behind him driving a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria. He also slowed down, but the car was rear-ended by a 1992 GMC Sonoma driven by Vincent’s father, Donald Sample, 48, of Great Bend. The car then started to spin and hit the back of the pickup as Norvell pulled onto Lakeview Dr. and stopped. The car entered the west ditch and came to rest, while the GMC came to rest in the southbound lane of U.S. 281.
Hoisington Emergency Medical Service arrived. Donald Sample was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. There were no other injuries; all three drivers were wearing seat belts.
