Big trucks collide in La Crosse
KHP patch

One driver suffered what appeared to be serious injuries Wednesday when two semitrailers collided at 9:45 a.m. in Rush County, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports.

Brandon John Knipp, 39, of Russell was taken to Hays Regional Hospital. The second driver, Jeffrey Alan Beikmann, 43, also of Russell, was treated at the scene for what appeared to be minor injuries and released.

The crash occurred on U.S. 183 at the K-4 Junction at La Crosse.

According to reports, Knipp was traveling west on K4 in a 2024 Freightliner pulling a trailer, while Beikmann was southbound on U.S. 183 in a 2013 Kenworth, also pulling a trailer. Knipp failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the Kenworth in the intersection. The Freightliner came to rest jack-knifed on K-4 facing east, while the Kenworth went into the southwest corner and overturned.

KHP reported that Knipp was not wearing a seat belt but Beikmann was. Both vehicles were towed.
