Chief: Drugs found in vehicle with children

Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark reports three children were in the back seat of a vehicle where suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found earlier this week.

According to a news release, a GBPD officer conducted a traffic stop around 11:44 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, in the 300 block of 10th St. The driver was Gerald James, 46, and the front seat passenger was Terra French, 40.

During the stop, K9 Rem from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was deployed, indicating to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle was conducted. James was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony interference, child endangerment, driving while suspended, and for multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. French was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child endangerment. Both were booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of bond.
