A fatal crash occurred Friday, Jan. 9, in Ellsworth County. Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 4:43 p.m. on K-14, 0.1 miles north of Avenue Q.

A 2018 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Stephanie Ruth Stevens, 54, from Rio Vista, California, was southbound when it began to spin counterclockwise and enter the northbound lane, where it struck a 2022 Ford F-350 head-on. The truck was driven by Mark Elmer Huseman, 47, from Ellsworth.

Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene. Huseman sustained what appeared to be minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt; he was not.
