Barton County Sheriff
Approximately 450 feet of copper wire was stolen from behind the warehouse at Venture Corp., 214 South U.S. 281, it was reported Tuesday. The company also reported criminal damage at the Dundee asphalt plant, 328 SW 56 Ave., where copper wiring was cut and taken from machines.
Braum’s has CO mishap
The Great Bend Fire Department was dispatched to Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store, 4209 10th St., at 10:49 a.m. Tuesday for a carbon monoxide check. Chief Mike Napolitano said CO was detected, and everyone was evacuated. Four of the employees were treated for CO poisoning at the scene. The gas company isolated the problem to a furnace, and the store reopened later that day.
Great Bend Fire Department
In addition to the CO check at Braum’s, firefighters made four ambulance runs on Tuesday and received one false alarm.
Ellinwood Fire Department
A structure fire at 1450 SE 50 Road was reported at 7:36 a.m. Tuesday. The fire appeared to have started below the wood-burning stove, and went into the attic. Occupants safely exited the house, which was ventilated for smoke.
Great Bend Police
Shelby Klima was driving south on Main at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday and struck a vehicle driven by Michael Beaver, who was eastbound on Lakin. This was reported as an injury accident but additional information was not immediately available.
A Hays police officer contacted the GBPD on Tuesday about some recent burglaries. They have some suspects.
