Firefighters rescue cat trapped in fan

Great Bend Firefighters don’t really rescue cats from trees, but at 12:16 p.m. Monday a cat in distress came to them. A man brought a squirrel cage fan with a stray cat stuck inside to Fire Station One, 1205 Williams, after his own attempts to free the animal were unsuccessful.

Firefighters reportedly ended up using a saw to cut open the fan and remove the cat, which was then taken to the Golden Belt Humane Society.

A spokesman at the Humane Society said the cat is OK.
