GB man arrested on drug charges

Great Bend Police arrested a man Wednesday morning on multiple charges following a bicycle-related traffic stop.

According to a GBPD news release, at just before 10 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop with a male on a bicycle, identified as 43-year-old Marcus Murphy, at the intersection of Adams Street and Lakin Avenue for a traffic infraction. 

During the course of the stop, Barton County Dispatch advised the officer Murphy had two outstanding felony warrants for drug related charges out of Barton County. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Barton County Detention Center. Upon arrival to the Barton County Detention Center, a small bag containing a white powdery substance was located on Murphy’s person. The powdery substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. He was booked and held on both outstanding warrants and for possession of methamphetamine.
