Great Bend driver involved in Washington County crash

WASHINGTON - Michael J. Purcell from Barnes, Kan. was transported to Washington County Hospital with suspected serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision near Washington Friday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 2020 Peterbilt semi driven by Benjamin R. Folk, 27, of Great Bend was traveling westbound on US-36 at 7:29 p.m. Friday at mile marker 273.3, .3 miles west of Thunder Road, when a 2000 Chevy Venture minivan driven by Purcell, 42, crossed over into Folk’s lane causing Folk to strike Purcell. The KHP reports Folk did not suffer any apparent injuries in the collision.

Neither vehicle was carrying any additional passengers at the time of the collision. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
