A Great Bend woman was transported to Hays Medical Center with what were believed to be minor injuries following a three-vehicle crash near Hays Wednesday evening.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1987 Ford F-150 driven by 51-year-old Bruce Arnhold of Hays was northbound on U.S. 183 near mile marker 157, about 2 miles north of I-70, at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when he slowed to make a left turn into a pasture. A 2017 Nissan Altima driven by Julie M. Lake, 22, of Great Bend, attempted to pass Arnhold’s vehicle, as well as a 2011 Honda Odyssey van driven by 51-year-old Dayna Crawford of Codell, who was also traveling northbound. Lake’s vehicle struck the left rear of Crawford’s vehicle as well as the driver’s door of Arnhold’s vehicle.

Along with Lake, Arnhold was also transported to Hays Medical Center with what were believed to be minor injuries. Crawford and her passenger, 77-year-old Judy Doerfler, also of Codell, were reportedly not injured. All occupants of the three vehicles were properly restrained at the time of the crash
