Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made three ambulance runs on Wednesday.

At 3:37 p.m. they were dispatched to 3007 25th St. to check on an alarm, that was from cooking smoke.

The was a report of a possible structure fire at 3125 Meadowlark at 4:11 p.m. Firefighters found a small burned area on the rug where a candle had been knocked over.

There was a report of a possible gas leas at 3502 10th St. at 4:39 p.m.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A vehicle driven by Steven Turner was eastbound on U.S. 56 near mile post 194 and struck a deer that ran out of the north ditch around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

A mailbox was knocked down at 182 NE 30 Road, it was reported Wednesday.

A car hit a deer on East K-4 and NE 110 Ave. shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.

 

Great Bend Police

Daryn Marshell was driving west on 10th turning north onto Morton St. at 8 a.m. Wednesday and struck a stop sign.

A vehicle driven by Marcus Potter was southbound on Monroe at 8:58 a.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Lawrence Slade that was eastbound on 22nd St.

Valencia Reif was driving south on Baker turning west at Kansas Ave. at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday and struck a pole.

A vehicle driven by Monica Castillo-Nieto was eastbound on 19th St. at 3:14 p.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Troy McFarren that was also eastbound but stopped in traffic.

Theft of a bicycle and medication from the residence at 2611 18th was reported Wednesday.

Martin Martinez, 26, was issued a citation for battery Wednesday, due to the previous charges of aggravated battery being dropped by the county attorney. His bond was reduced to $1,000 and he was released after posting two $1,000 bonds; the other was for a Great Bend Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear.

A bookbag was reported stolen from a vehicle on Tyler St. on Thursday morning. The bag was returned but a case was taken.

Someone broke into a vehicle at 1615 Jefferson St. and stole several items, it was reported Thursday morning.
