Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made two ambulance runs Friday, nine Saturday and three Sunday.

At 9:26 a.m. Saturday they responded to a possible gas leak at 1011 Wilson St.

 

Other fire reports

Ellinwood Fire Department responded when a grass fire at 300 SE 50 Ave. was reported at 9:20 p.m. Saturday. Four to five acres of CRP grass was burned.

 

Great Bend Police

Someone cut the tires on a vehicle at 1216 Morton St., it was reported Friday.

A vehicle driven by Sandara Villalvazo was eastbound on Broadway at 7:55 a.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Erika Raya that was turning west onto Broadway from Harrison.

Theft of a Samsung-brand cell phone from 1201 Second St. was reported Friday.

Theft of a car’s license tag from 5501 Ninth St. was reported Friday.

A vehicle driven by Dallas Schmeidler was westbound on 21st St. at 4:50 p.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Marcos Bahragan, which was northbound on Harrison St.

Theft of an iPod, GPS and checkbook from a vehicle at 1219 Polk St. was reported Saturday.

Someone damaged the driver’s side window on a Ford Explorer at 809 Coolidge St., it was reported Saturday. Loss was $150. Someone also reportedly broke into a Ford Focus at that address and stole a JVC-brand stereo, knife and ball hitch. Total loss on the second case was $550.

Theft of a black, 2005 Chevy Colorado from 2531 19th St. was reported Sunday.

A $20 gas skip involving a black SUV was reported at 1221 10th St., at 4:27 p.m. Sunday.

Two females reportedly stole beer from the store at 2334 Main on Sunday afternoon.

A burglary at 437 Dogwood St. was reported Sunday night. Miscellaneous items were taken.

 

Barton County Sheriff

The owner of a vehicle on Friday reported that it was hit by another vehicle with unknown driver back on Jan. 10 while it was parked at Barton Community College.

A vehicle hit a deer 1.5 miles north of Hoisington on U.S. 281, around 10 p.m. Friday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.

At 11:10 p.m. Friday, a man reported two mini monster trucks were "terrorizing around his house" and circling the section. Two Barton County Sheriff’s Office units and a Hoisington police officer responded but did not make contact with any motorists in the area.

A Tazer stun gun was used on prisoner Eric J. Tauser of Hoisington at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, after Tauser reportedly fought the jailers. (He was arrested in Great Bend on suspicion of drunk driving around 12:39 a.m.) He was booked on Great Bend Municipal Court charges of driving under the influence, driving without headlights, defective tail lamp and no seat belt, and on a Barton County District Court charge of battery on a correction officer. He was released after posting a $20,000 surety bond on the county case and a $1,000 surety bond on the municipal case.

A truck hit a deer three miles east of Hoisington on K-4 at 6:40 a.m. Saturday.

A white van was found in the road by the ball diamond at Barton Community College on Saturday morning, and because officers were not able to contact the owners it was impounded.

A vehicle hit a deer four miles east of Hoisington on K-4 at 6:25 p.m. Saturday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.
