Barton County Sheriff

An abandoned Ford Taurus was removed from Cheyenne Bottoms on Tuesday morning.

A pickup reported stolen from Great Bend last weekend was located in a creek at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Tuesday reports

A vehicle was eastbound on Eisenhower and struck a parked vehicle on Cherry Lane shortly before 8 a.m.

Jewelry and cash were taken during a burglary at 1029 Grant St.

A handle was torn off a door at 1506 Polk St. Loss was $100.

A cell phone and keys were taken during a burglary at 437 Dogwood St.

A $60.08 gas skip involving a white SUV at 2716 10th St. was reported at 7:11 p.m.

A gas skip at 2334 Main was reported at 9:11 p.m.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Tuesday. They were dispatched to a grass fire at 47 NW 30 Road at 4:17 p.m. Chief Mike Napolitano said the fire started with a cigarette and rapidly spread, threatening several homes in the area. "Even with the recent snow, the grass still burns."
