Juvenile and adult arrested after traffic stop

A traffic stop on Friday morning resulted in a juvenile and an adult being placed under arrest, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir reported.

According to a news release, deputies with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 281 near milepost 103, just south of the city of Great Bend. “During the course of the contact deputies noted drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia,” Bellendir stated.

The driver of the vehicle was a juvenile and was placed under arrest. This individual was turned over to the Juvenile Justice Authority for processing.

A passenger in the vehicle, Lamont Tyus, age 27, of St. John was also arrested. Tyus was transported to the Barton County Jail without incident and booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, with bond set at $10,000.
