Thirty-seven-year-old Jeremy Lamb was transported to El Dorado Correctional Facility Wednesday to begin a 155 month sentence stemming from a probation violation following convictions on a 2018 felony case in Ellinwood.

On Nov. 9, 2020, District Court Judge Carey Hipp revoked Lamb’s probation in Barton County cases 2018 CR 293, 2018 CR 424, and 2019 CR 117 and ordered him to serve his underlying sentence of 12 years and 11 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.

On June 24, 2018, Lamb entered a house on Camille Street in Ellinwood while the occupant was inside, “with the intent to commit a theft, felony or sexually motivated crime therein,” according to Barton County District Court records. His conviction on this and two other felony crimes would normally have sent him to prison, but after plea negotiations he was instead granted probation.

Lamb was originally sentenced in all three cases on October 11, 2019. After waiving his rights to a preliminary hearing, a jury trial, and to appeal, Lamb entered guilty pleas to aggravated burglary, felony theft and possession of heroin or methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Other charges were dismissed and he was granted probation.

After a hearing on the allegations that Lamb had violated the terms of his probation, Barton County Attorney Levi Morris argued to the court that Lamb had violated his probation, that he had committed a new offense on probation, and asked the court to revoke his probation and send him to prison. After hearing the arguments of Lamb’s attorney, Audra Asher, the court found that Lamb had violated his probation in several instances, that he had committed a new offense while on probation, and the court revoked his probation and ordered him to serve his underlying sentence.
