Larned man injured in Gray County crash
KHP patch

A Larned man was injured Friday morning after a semi driver failed to yield at a yield sign and crashed into the car he was driving on in Gray County, 5.7 miles north of Ensign. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Jarred Leland Smith, 33, of Larned was transported to Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City with what appeared to be serious injuries.

The crash occurred at 8:28 a.m. The 2013 Peterbilt semi was driven by Jeffrey Marc Debnam, 44, of Meade, who had no apparent injury. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

KHP reports the semi was southbound on 24 Road and failed to yield at County Road S. It collided with the 2008 Dodge Charger that Smith was driving. Smith, who was eastbound on S Road, applied heaving braking and the car collided with a fence post and then with the semi.
