BROOKVILLE — Kansas Highway Patrol responded to an injury crash after a motorcycle swerved to avoid a deer, causing the driver to lay the vehicle on its side, Sunday in Ellsworth County. Troy Bates, 48, from Brookville, was taken to Salina Regional Hospital after the crash at 7:57 p.m. on K-140, 0.4 miles west of Brookville. Bates was driving east on a 2006 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide. KHP reports he was wearing a helmet and his injury is believed to be minor.
