Deer-vehicle accidents reported

Kansas Highway Patrol responded to three vehicle-deer crashes Saturday in Barton County. One occurred in the morning near the grain elevator at Hitschmann, one was in the evening on West U.S. 56 at SW 70 Ave. and the third was at 9:43 p.m., about a half-mile south of the TV tower on U.S. 281.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office worked two deer-vehicle accidents on Sunday. A vehicle coming to Great Bend from Ellsworth around 8:13 p.m. Sunday on K-156 hit a deer about 10 miles outside of Great Bend, sustaining minor damage which did not require an accident case file. A car hit a deer on West U.S. 56 at mile marker 194 around 10:41 p.m. Sunday. A wrecker was sent.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Barton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rape that allegedly occurred somewhere between Hoisington and Great Bend around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. No arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon.

Two BCSO deputies and two KHP officers responded to student housing at Barton Community College at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, after a report that shots had been fired. It was fireworks.

Deputies, a tow truck and Claflin ambulance responded after a motorist fell asleep and went into a ditch, sometime around 5 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of K-4. The driver reportedly was not injured.

Padlocks were cut and fuel stolen from 673 North U.S. 201, it was reported Sunday.

 

Great Bend Police

Two vehicles collided Friday morning in the student parking lot at Great Bend High School.

Theft of prescription medication from 1560 K-96 was reported Friday.

A $30 gas skip at 3620 10th St. was reported Friday afternoon.

A $25.01 gas skip at 1315 10th St. was reported Friday evening.

A $29.01 gas skip at 1000 Main was reported Friday night.

Theft of a Samsung cell phone from 1207 Ninth St. was reported Saturday.

Theft of angels from the yard at 5016 12th St. was reported Saturday.

Someone broke a window on the residence at 1801 Eighth St., it was reported Sunday.

An individual reported being bitten by a stray cat Sunday night in the 200 block of Plum St. Early Monday morning she reported catching the cat, which was picked up by the humane society.
