Final accident report shows seat belt

Sheriff Greg Armstrong said the investigation on a rollover accident that occurred last Thursday is complete, and preliminary information reported to the Great Bend Tribune was incorrect. Byrl Wear, who was driving a semi-trailer that overturned, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made three ambulance runs Friday, three Saturday and five Sunday.

They also responded to a call at 2:44 a.m. Sunday, after a gas meter in the 2100 block of Monroe St. was hit by a vehicle. At 4:07 p.m. Sunday they were dispatched to a ditch fire between SW 10 Road and SW 20 Road. Chief Mike Napolitano said high winds spread the fire. Firefighters were at the scene until 7 p.m.

 

Ellinwood Fire Department

There was a field fire at SE 100 Ave. and SE 60 Road at 8:50 p.m. Sunday.

 

Great Bend Police

Theft of supplies off the housekeeping cart at 3017 10th St. was reported Friday. Loss was $15.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a vehicle at 2302 Main St. on Friday.

Theft of an air conditioner from 2723 19th St. was reported Saturday.

A burglary with theft of tools from 2024 Hubbard St. was reported Saturday.

Theft of a lawn angel from 1029 Grant St. was reported Saturday. Loss was $300.

A $10 gas skip at 2337 Washington St. was reported Saturday.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a gas meter at 2115 Monroe at about 2:35 a.m. Sunday.

Theft of an SCCY Industries-brand 9 mm handgun from 908 Harrison St. was reported Sunday.

A male found passed out in his vehicle in an intersection 4:47 a.m. Sunday was arrested and booked on a charge of driving under the influence.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A tractor-trailer got stuck when the driver tried to turn around on Boyd Road, NW 30 Ave. at NW 30 Road, at 8:08 a.m. Friday. The vehicle had to be pulled out of the ditch.

A motorist hit a deer on U.S. 56 at SW 90 Ave. at 7:43 p.m. Saturday and was arrested for not having a driver’s license.
