Barton County Sheriff

James Weber, 18, and Donald Weber, 41, were injured in a one-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports. James was driving a Ford Ranger in the 100 block of Third Street toward Kiowa Road at 4:35 p.m. when he ran the stop sign and went straight through the T-intersection and into a field. The truck hit a tree then rolled end-over-end onto its top, against another tree. They were not wearing seat belts. Great Bend Police Department and Great Bend Fire/EMS also responded. James Weber and passenger Donald Weber were checked at the scene and were later transported by relatives to Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

A Ford Explorer carrying seven people went off of an Ellsworth County road at 5:35 p.m. last Thursday, resulting in several injuries. The driver was Skyler Lee Brook, 20, of Corning, who was westbound on Ave. N, 1.7 miles west of K-14 or two miles south of Ellsworth, when the vehicle crested the hill and went out of control. It entered the south ditch, started to roll and came to rest in the north ditch. Brook was taken to Ellsworth County Medical Center, along with Samantha C. Davis, 14, Ellsworth; Tianna R. Johnson, 15, Wilson; and Austin Timothy Pruitt, 14, Ellsworth. The others were not injured. Only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
