Weekend fires in Great Bend included a mobile home at 5501 Ninth St. and a vehicle fire at Fifth and Hubbard. The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the vehicle fire, involving a truck that was reportedly stolen.
Great Bend Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said units were dispatched to Fine Mobile Home Park, 5501 Ninth St., Lot 79, at 1:27 p.m. Sunday. No one was home at the time. Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from a window. Because the fire had extended into the small attic area of the trailer, firefighters had to pull down the ceiling and insulation to extinguish it. Units were on scene for three hours.
At 11:52 p.m. Sunday, units were dispatched to Fifth and Hubbard, where a one-ton gin pole truck was on fire. The passenger compartment and engine compartment were both in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished.
According to the Great Bend Police Department call log, the 1981 GMC truck was reportedly stolen from Duke Drilling, 620 Hubbard St., and caught fire in the driveway while leaving. Other items were also reportedly stolen from the business.

Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Friday, eight Saturday and four Sunday.
An unauthorized burn was extinguished Friday at 104 SE 20 Road.

A burglary was reported Friday morning at Murphy Truck Repair, 517 Washington St. Someone broke into the building and stole $60.
A non-injury accident was reported at 10:15 a.m. Friday at Kwik Shop, 2334 Main.
Criminal damage to the fence between the dike and the city compost site at 97 SW 5 Ave. was discovered.
A power tool was reportedly stolen from Kansas Doors Inc., 5223 10th St.
A fraud case was reported at 5251 Wakarusa Ct.
Theft of a vehicle tag in Albert was reported; Barton County Sheriff’s Office handled the call.
Following a traffic stop at 7:07 p.m. Friday at 2300 21st St., a DUI arrest was made.
A K-9 unit was dispatched to 1811 Main at 8:34 p.m. Friday. The officer made a narcotics arrest.
A dirt bike was reportedly stolen from a pickup at Beer Thirty, 2801 Main, sometime before 2:09 a.m. Saturday. It was located in the trees behind the bar.
Vehicles driven by Vernon Schmitt and Kathleen Zortman collided at 10:47 a.m. Saturday at Broadway and Main. No one was injured.
Police assisted with the execution of a search warrant at 11:20 a.m. Saturday at 117 East Fourth St. in Hoisington.
On Saturday, several people reported their vehicles had been egged. The house and a car at 3117 28th St. were reportedly damaged.
Vehicles driven by Taliesa Humphrey and Tyler Lehmkuhl collided at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at 16th and Morton. No one was injured.
A narcotics case was taken at 2:11 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Morphy St.
At 4:21 a.m. Sunday, a male reported being battered by two subjects at 10th and Walnut St.
An injury accident was reported at 3:27 p.m. Sunday at Broadway and Morton St. Vehicles driven by Merlinda Hickle and Daniel Degenhardt collided.
A vehicle driven by a juvenile collided with a power pole at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 11th and Odell St. No one was injured.
A burglary was reported at 1:19 a.m. Monday at 5850 Cherry Pl. Apt. A. Items were stolen from the residence.
