Barton County Sheriff
A vehicle hit a deer on East K-4 and NE 90 Ave. at 8:09 a.m. Thursday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.
A shop at 1233 NW 50 Ave. was broken into, it was reported Thursday. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, but property was damaged.

Money was stolen from 2910 10th St.
Theft of a van from 2907 21st St. was reported Thursday morning. Later is was found; it had been impounded in reference to a non-injury accident that occurred Wednesday night.
Someone stabbed a tire, put sugar in the gas tank and egged a car at 5824 16th St. Terrace Apt. 34.
A theft case was made at Community Bank of the Midwest, 2220 Broadway Ave.
A known person allegedly took a car from 2423 Forest Ave. and was possibly in Texas.
A woman left Walgreen’s, 3920 10th St., without paying for a prescription.
A blue Dodge van was involved in an alleged gas skip at 1001 Main at 8:24 p.m.
Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Tuesday, four Wednesday and five Thursday.
They also checked a possible vehicle fire Tuesday at Barton Community College, but found there was a problem with power steering, no fire.
On Wednesday there was a gas smell at 2000 Cherry Lane. The gas company was called in.
At 7 a.m. Friday they extinguished a smoldering log south of Stone Lake.
