Friday, July 22
A motorist reported being rear-ended by a vehicle on Broadway Ave. at 11:52 a.m. and driving away after getting the tag number, because the other driver was upset. All parties were contacted and a report was made. This was a possible injury accident.
A dog bite at 117 Pine St. was reported.
A deputy reported seeing a vehicle hit the Smoke Shop at 10th and Harrison at 12:01 p.m., causing minor damage, and leaving. The driver was contacted and did not know he had hit the building. Insurance forms were exchanged and no case was taken.
A burglary at 2006 Baker Ave. was reported. A 27-inch Sanyo TV was taken.
Winiberto Barron reportedly ran the stop sign at Third and Pine at 5:05 p.m. and struck a pole. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
A woman reported her ex-boyfriend forced her into a vehicle Friday evening, drove her to Stone Lake, and would not let her leave. She also reported the suspect, Keith Dannebohm of Ellinwood, broke the windows out of her Jeep. Then another vehicle arrived and he left with the driver. He was arrested and booked Saturday on charges of probation violation, aggravated battery and criminal damage.
Police were dispatched to Brit Spaugh Park at 8:46 p.m. Friday after Ryan Howell, 36, allegedly cut Shane Kern, 43, with a knife. Kern was taken to Via Christi’s St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita for medical treatment, and was released later that day.
A criminal damage to property report Friday night at 403 Dogwood St. was worked by the Barton County Sheriff’s Office as police were responding to the aggravated battery.
Saturday, July 23
A 1996 GMC pickup with a female driver backed into a Pontiac Grand Am on Lakin Ave. at 2:03 a.m. At 10 a.m. a woman reported being the driver.
A Dodge Neon struck the Buff’s Car Wash building at 11:47 a.m.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a mailbox at 422 Frey St.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a window air conditioner at 1415 19th St.
A man’s ex-girlfriend reportedly showed up at his house at 6:54 p.m. and threw a pop bottle at him, then walked away. The suspect, Kristie L. Perez, Great Bend, was later arrested on charges of failure to appear and contempt of court.
Sunday, July 24
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a trailer parked in the street at 1212 Polk St.
A male shoplifter at 1221 10th St. left the area on a bicycle at 7:32 p.m.
A purse was stolen from a vehicle on Broadway around 7:45 p.m.
Monday, July 25
A prowler in the 3000 block of 18th St. was reported at 3:03 a.m.
Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Friday, four Saturday and four Sunday.
At 5:59 a.m. Saturday they responded to a gas leak in an apartment located at 2507 11th St.
