Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs Thursday, seven Friday, four Saturday and five Sunday.

There were no fires.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Winds of 47-52 mph last Thursday knocked down a stop sign at NE 100 Ave. and NE 80 Road.

A 2001 Crown Victoria was pushed by the wind and hit a bridge guardrail in the 3100 block of Washington St. at 1:26 a.m. Friday.

Damage to a field in the 500 block of NW 30 Ave. was reported Friday.

The driver in a one-vehicle rollover at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of NW 90 Ave. reported she was not injured. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.

A party with alleged underage drinking at a house south of Great Bend was reported and was broken up at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Andrew Taylor, Seward, was located in Stafford County and arrested Saturday after allegedly driving through a fence at SW 20 Ave. and SW 70 Road in Barton County and then leaving the scene.

At 2:55 a.m. Monday, Barton County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Lloyd Lewis reported that a deer hit the side of his vehicle at 111 North U.S. 281. The vehicle could still be driven and there was no noticeable damage. He planned to return to Great Bend, but at 2:59 a.m. a second deer struck and damaged the vehicle.

 

Great Bend Police

Someone broke a back window and entered Golden Belt Bicycle Company, 1111 Main, it was reported Friday.

A vehicle driven by Aida Molena-Contreras was southbound on Harrison at 9:09 a.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Janet Flint, who reportedly failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign at Lakin and Harrison.

A vehicle driven by Shawn Demel was northbound on Maple at 12:17 p.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Shane Meeker, who was westbound on Second St. Demel went to Great Bend Regional Hospital by private vehicle and was treated and released.

Theft of a pink Next-brand bike from 1417 Ninth St. was reported Friday.

At 11:27 p.m. Friday an 18-year-old woman reported Robert Sloan, 18, of Hoisington pulled a knife and tried to stab her at a Great Bend address after she broke up with him. Sloan was arrested in a traffic stop in the 900 block of Coolidge St. at 1:10 a.m. Saturday and booked into jail.

A known male was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run run accident late Friday. He we allegedly driving a vehicle parked on private property at Charlie’s Place, 1109 Main, and backed into a legally parked vehicle before leaving the area. At 12:09 a.m. Saturday, it was reported that the same male was battering his girlfriend and took her phone. Officers were unable to find the man. A person claiming to be the suspect called dispatch on the phone at 1:29 a.m. and asked to be contacted by an officer. He said he was out of the county and would not give his location. He also called police over the noon hour on Saturday, asking what his charges were.

Two people were served citations after they were reportedly seen fornicating in a front yard in the northwest part of Great Bend, at 1:42 a.m. Saturday.

A window on a Ford Explorer at 1513 Cherry Lane was broken, it was reported early Saturday.

A burglary at 2515 Broadway was reported Saturday morning. The garage door was damaged.

Theft of items from a Mustang at 2510 Forest Ave. was reported Saturday morning.

A red and yellow bicycle was reportedly stolen from 1820 Hubbard St.

Theft of a decal from 2424 19th St. was reported Saturday.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested and booked on an assault charge after an incident at GBRH Emergency Room, 514 Cleveland St., Saturday afternoon.

Theft from Walmart, 3503 10th St., was reported Saturday. Juvenile shoplifters were also reported at the store Saturday evening.

A vehicle burglary at 2506 Forest Ave. was reported Saturday. A stereo was taken.

A vehicle driven by April Hart was turning from 10th St. onto Harrison at 10:22 a.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Donald Childers, who was stopped at the light.

Theft of wheels from a car at 316 Locust St. was reported Sunday.

A notice to appear in court was served Sunday evening on a man for alleged shoplifting at Dillon’s, 4107 10th St.

A vehicle driven by Jeanna Richter was westbound on 10th St. in the inside lane turning north at 7:49 p.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Edwin Mauler, who was westbound in the outside lane.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle on private property on 18th St., it was reported Sunday.

A vehicle driven by Casey Roberts was backing eastbound in the 3900 block of 10th St. at 9:03 p.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Michael Harwood, who was stopped in traffic.
