Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made three ambulance runs on Friday, six Saturday, five Sunday and seven Monday.

At 6:42 p.m. Friday they responded to a kitchen fire at 3006 24th St. The fire was out upon arrival and the crews ventilated the house. Damage was estimated at $25,000.

At 9:29 p.m. Friday they responded to an illegal burning at 1712 Third St.

At 10:44 p.m. Friday they responded to a structure fire at 1201 ½ Morton St. Firefighters arrived to find fire and smoke showing from the second floor window. Crews were able to contain the fire to the bedroom on the second floor. The accidental fire started on the mattress. Damage was estimated at $10,000. The occupant was able to get out of the house without injuries.

At 7:11 a.m. Saturday they responded to a fire on the stove at 3910 Cedar Park place. The fire was out upon arrival and the cause was a plastic container too close to the burner. Smoke damage was minor.

At 10:26 p.m. Saturday they responded to a fire in the oven at 3600 Robin Road. No damage was reported.

At 11:02 a.m. Monday there was a report of a smoke smell in the area of 600 West Barton county Road. Firefighters could not find anything burning.

 

Great Bend Police

Money was stolen from a van at 1910 Madison St., it was reported Saturday.

A toolbox was stolen from the back of a pickup at 504 Washington St., it was reported Saturday.

Theft of a wallet from 1560 K-96 was reported Saturday.

Theft of a digital camera from 1707 Hubbard St. was reported Saturday.

A known person allegedly stole money from a cash register at 3503 10th St. and was served a notice to appear in municipal court.

A burglary at 5931 Eisenhower Ct. B was reported Sunday. Several items were taken. Loss was $3,520.

A gas skip at 1315 10th St. was reported at 8:15 a.m. Sunday. The suspect vehicle was a red car with two males and a female inside.

A battery that allegedly occurred somewhere on Third St. was reported Sunday afternoon.
