Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made four ambulance runs Friday, five Saturday and one Sunday.

At 6:07 p.m. Friday they extinguished a old abandoned shed on fire at 51 SW 30 Road.

At 10:42 p.m. Friday they responded to a possible explosion with fire at 1712 Third St. and found a pit fire in the back yard, which the occupant extinguished. He was cited for illegal burning.

At 1:51 p.m. Sunday they were dispatched to 317 SW 50 Ave., where an electrical line had caused a grass fire. The fire spread to a shed, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Two semi-trailers collided at 5:30 p.m. Friday, four miles west of Dundee on U.S. 56. No injuries were reported.

A red 1995 Ford pickup that was reported stolen was recovered Saturday afternoon at the sand pit at 2401 Railroad Ave.

Theft of a quarter-mile length of copper wire from an irrigation system at SE 70 Road and SE 70 Ave. was reported Saturday.

 

Great Bend Police

Vehicles driven by Stephany Gaulsa and Loren Fiest collided in front of McDonald’s at 7:37 a.m. Friday.

A burglary at Jan’s Spirit Shop, 4006 10th St., was reported Saturday morning. Liquor was stolen.

A vehicle hit a parked vehicle at 2622 27th St. on Friday.

A known person allegedly stole several items from Walmart.

A male reportedly swerved his vehicle at his girlfriend on the U.S. 281 Bypass around 7 p.m. on Friday, then got out of the vehicle and battered her. An attempt to locate bulletin was issued and case taken.

A hit-and-run vehicle was westbound on Third at 10:59 p.m. Friday and struck another vehicle. The first vehicle was located in the 400 block of Cedar St. and towed.

A vehicle driven by Elyse Duarte was westbound in the 2200 block of 24th St. at 5:54 a.m. Saturday and struck another vehicle and a fence owned by the city. Duarte was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital, where she was treated and released.

A vehicle driven by Mark Combs struck a parked vehicle at 1400 Jackson St. Saturday morning.

A window screen at 4008 10th St. was cut.

A vehicle driven by Shawn Wear was westbound on 27th St. at 2:37 p.m. Saturday and struck a vehicle driven by Michael Rahn that was northbound on Jackson.

Vehicles driven by Steven D. Bilyew and Edna G. Schneweis collided at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, when both thought they had a green light at Broadway and Main. Bilyew and his passenger were transported to GBRH and treated for minor injuries.

A vehicle driven by Clarence L. Gaylord was eastbound on 10th St. at 1 p.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Nancy R. Wilson, after reportedly running a red light at Kansas Ave. Wilson was transported by private vehicle to GBRH, where she was treated for minor injuries.

Someone keyed a 2001 Honda CRV at 2600 Adams St., it was reported Sunday.

An unknown motorist backed into a legally parked vehicle at 1221 10th St. on Sunday.
