Great Bend Fire/EMS

Sept. 2

There were seven calls for Emergency Medical Services. Mutual aid was provided for a ditch fire in rural Albert in the area of NW 90 Ave. and NW 40 Rd. The call came in at 5:04 p.m.

Sept. 3

EMS had five calls. Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 6:14 p.m. at 3809 12th St. There was also a report of a powerline down in the area of SE 20 Ave. and SE 50 Rd.

Great Bend Police

Sept. 2

Theft by deception was reported at 7:45 a.m. at 517 Kiowa Rd.

A theft was reported at 8:06 a.m. at 3216 18th St.

An outside agency was assisted at 8:59 a.m. at 2300 Heizer St.

A theft report was made at 10:08 a.m. at the Police Department.

A non-injury crash was reported at 11:30 a.m. at Walmart.

An assault was reported at 2:04 p.m. at 1315 Lincoln St.

A theft was reported at 3:16 p.m. at 1212 Sheridan St.

An outside agency was assisted at 3:30 p.m. at 203 N. Prairie, St. John.

A non-injury crash was reported at 4:47 p.m. at 29th and Williams S.

Twenty-three thefts were reported from 5:19-5:50 p.m. and from 7:28-7:42 p.m. at Walmart.

A stabbing was reported at 6:23 p.m. at 300 Plum St. Barton County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

A domestic call was reported at 8 p.m. at 811 Grant St., Apt. 218.

K-9 Niko was dispatched at 1118 8th St. at 9:44 p.m.

Sept. 3

Cattle were out at 9:35 a.m. in the 2600 block of Harrison St. The owner was contacted.

An animal complaint was received at 3:18 p.m. in the 300 block of Maple St.

A theft was reported at 4:56 p.m. at 1706 Morphy St.

A non-injury crash was reported at 5:53 p.m. at Broadway Ave. and Morton St.

A battery was reported at 6:41 p.m. at the skate park.

A domestic battery was reported at 9:10 p.m. at 224 Hickory St.

A domestic battery was reported at 9:15 p.m. at 213 Pine St.

Barton County Sheriff

Sept. 2

Officers handled 19 civil processes.

A theft was reported at 12:28 p.m. at 80 SE 20 Rd, Great Bend.

Outside agency was assisted at 6:28 p.m. and 6:54 p.m. at 300 Plum St., Great Bend.

A narcotics violation was reported at 8:58 p.m. at West U.S. 56 and SW 30 Rd, with a K-9 deployed.

A domestic call was received at 10:25 p.m. at 29th and Gano St., Great Bend.

Sept. 3

Officers handled two civil processes.

A non-injury crash was reported at 7:45 a.m. at NE 30 Rd and U.S. 281.

A grass, trash or utility fire was reported in the county at 11:54 a.m.

An outside agency was assisted at 5:12 p.m. at 9th and Morphy St., Great Bend.

Booked Sept. 2

Brandon S. Smith — Rice County District Court arrest for burglary. Bond set at $20,000.

Released Sept. 2

Crystal Caruthers — $50,000 own-recognizance bond..

Booked Sept. 3

Shelbey R. Beshirs — Distribution of methamphetamine, possession of hallucinogens, criminal use of weapons, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond set at $100,000.

Justin Juarez — Aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and interference with LEO. Bond set at $50,000.

Released Sept. 3

Mario A. Lira — $20,000 surety bond
